A moderate level of fitness is desirable, but most of the tours we create can be adjusted to our clients’ preferences and necessities. The truffle hunt can take place into the woods but also on more leveled ground and the lenght of the experience can too be adjusted. The tour at the castle of Grinzane Cavour involves staircases. Please let us know if you have special requirements.

Transportation is not included, but can be provided upon request. We offer airports and train stations pick up/drop offs. During the tour we can provide private air conditioned cars or minvans. Alternatively we will provide you with a rental car for the entire extent of the tour

We offer a curated  list of selected Hotels, Boutique Hotels, Farmhouses, Villas and B&Bs. We trust you will find these accommodations to be just what you are looking for, but if you don’t feel comfortable with the suggested level of accommodation, please let us know and we will adjust it to your preference.

Meals (lunch and dinner) will not be included unless specifically requested. Restaurants will offer menu à la carte and various dietary options. Please let us know if you have special requirements

Langhe & Roero Wine Tour:
Tour description

Day 1 –Welcome to Piedmont!

Check-in at your hotel, get comfortable and meet with your local private guide. You will have time to review the itinerary and collect some useful travel material for the days to follow. According to your preferences and time of arrival, you can take a tour of the area before dinner.

Day 2 – Tour of the Barolo area, wine tasting and visit at the Grinzane Cavour castle

Your day begins with a tour of the Barolo wine area of Langhe. This small region of Piedmont is famous for producing some of the finest Italian wines, like Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera. You will take a pleasant walking tour of the picturesque town of La Morra, from where it is possible to admire a panoramic view over the surrounding vineyards. Then your guide will take you to the nearby castle of Grinzane Cavour, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The castle today hosts the regional wine shop of the Piedmont region. Here, enjoy a private tour of the castle, and learn about the history of the region and the famous Count – Camillo Benso di Cavour – who played a very important role in the unification of the country. Explore the castle Langhe Museum and the wine shop, which houses an impressive collection of local wines.

After your guided visit, enjoy a rewarding lunch in one of the best local restaurant or osterie.  Sample the great local cuisine and pair your dishes with the finest local wines. Choose among the traditional homemade pasta, or the famous meat carpaccio, or taste some seasonal plates. You will understand very soon that the Langhe region is a real paradise for food lovers. In the afternoon, take a tour of a local winery and enjoy a fabulous and relaxing wine tasting. You will learn about the history and techniques of winemaking that make Piedmont so famous. Your host will introduce you to the various grape varieties and explain how the terroir affects the taste and quality of the wines. This is a great chance to sample some of the best wines in the world!

Day 3 – Truffle hunting near Alba & wine trip to Roero

The Langhe region is worldwide famous for its black and white truffles. Start the day with an amazing morning truffle hunting experience! Meet with a local truffle hunter and his dog, and explore the vineyards and the hazelnut woods around the town of Alba. You will learn about the different types of truffles, and how to look for them. Your truffle guide will also explain you how to identify the different kinds of truffles, how to preserve them and how to cook them.

After this special experience, you will travel from the Langhe region to the neighbouring Roero area.  Roero is a relatively small region of Piedmont, but known the unique terroir and high quality white and red wines. The Tanaro river is what separates the Langhe and the Roero area. Relax and enjoy an authentic Piedmontese lunch and get ready to visit another selected local winery.  You will learn about the differences between the various wine regions of Piedmont. Tour the winery cellars and taste the excellent wines produced in this area. The tranquillity of the countryside and the beauty of the surrounding vineyards will be the perfect setting for a peaceful afternoon.
